Sad news, late last year Panasonic (who now own Technics) announced that “as of February 2010” they are due to cease production of the DJ’s favourite direct drive turntable.
Without a doubt its a shame, for those of us that enjoy dub/ reggae, dubstep or other bass heavy genres will miss that cartridge crackle and the warmth and character of music played on vinyl. The demise of the technics turntables, DJ’s who favour vinyl/ dubs (@Rodigan, @Caspa …) will now have to rely on other mediums to play their music to the masses.
So what are your opinions, what format will prevail? CDJ’s? MP3’/WAV’s on USB’s or SSD’s?
